UK government is bullying its citizens - is Gordon Brown the Right Man for the job? - please help change thingsThe purpose of this website is simply to tell our UK government that we are NOT stupid nor are we blind. I am not sure why do we all accept the outrageous abuse and bullying this government is giving us; I suppose that although we can all be stronger together, we still cant see that together, we do have an immense power which is far greater than the power of the government. Here is a short-list of the way this government is bullying us: No Smoking Law – Lets start here were the government is making an absolute fortune on tax levied to the cost of cigarettes. The general idea is to stop people smoking and save some NHS cost. Does someone know anyone who stopped smoking as a result of the No Smoking Law? Furthermore, does someone know anyone who stopped smoking because of the prohibitive cost of a packet of cigarettes in this country? The answer is probably NO! What is happening is this: The NHS service is as poor as ever if nor poorer. More people break the law by smoking where they are not supposed to smoke. There is more filth on the streets especially at the entrance to pubs, bars, hotels and office buildings. And the NHS…. What a service. I personally know of 2 different people who nearly lost their life due to negligence and a further few who actually died. What else are we going to talk about here? How about the speeding con, the parking fines generated through cameras, council tax collected for refuse, police and fire service and ambulance service most of which are extremely poor… and how about fuel prices, interest rates, bailiffs, unlicensed car clampers? The answer is simply! If so many of us are so unhappy with the abuse and bullying, together we can exert enough pressure on the current government to change or LEAVE and let someone else do the job which cant possibly be done any worse. *********************************************************************** Here is how it can work for us all The more of us join this political network, the more powerful we will get and it is all about numbers. If lets say, a million of us registered with this network, the government will HAVE to take notice of us as joining this network could be an indication of our intentions of voting off the current government. Quite frankly, which party is elected is the least of anyone’s concern. What matters is what action the government takes in improving the economy, funding the NHS and looking after our citizens. ********************************** This is only too true unfortunately. up until last may the requirement to balance the finances was only obeyed in the breach. and many trusts kept providing services needed by patients. Many trusts, especially those in rural areas had been underfunded for years and the trusts were told "Your budget will be increased over the next 5 years or so. then last may the govt handed down the ruling that all NHS trusts and PCT's had to be in financial balance and were given about 2 years to attain this position. By July the management consultants who had been called in to advise the trusts and PCTs reported back and 80 plus community hospitals were suddenly under threat of closure. In my area 3 community hospitals under threat to save about £3 million out of an area debt of £36 million. No job can be advertised in our hospitals except by the Chief Executive. 200 jobs have already gone. 300 are being looked at next year. The infection control ward has been closed and that is trying to get the current accounts into balance, forget about repaying the £26 million historic debt. Our health economy is about to go into melt down. There is a very high risk we will lose one of our two district general hospitals. the scenario is nightmarish. Report by: Martin McGowan
